(UPDATE) MIKATI, CYPRIOT FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSES ILLEGAL MIGRATION OF SYRIAN REFUGEES TO EUROPE VIA CYPRUS


Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday welcomed Cypriot Foreign Minister, Constantinos Kombos, at the Serail, in presence of Cyprus Ambassador to Lebanon, Maria Hadjitheodosiou.

During the meeting, the Cypriot minister emphasized “the existing and future cooperation between Lebanon and Cyprus in all fields.” He expressed his desire for “intensifying joint efforts to resolve the crisis of illegal migration of Syrian refugees to Europe through Cyprus, starting from the Lebanese shores.”

Kombos also briefed on Cyprus’ efforts to provide aid to Gaza through the maritime humanitarian crossing and expressed his wish “for security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean region in the near future.”

Prime Minister Mikati, for his part, affirmed that “there are several sectors in which Lebanon and Cyprus can cooperate economically, commercially, and in tourism and energy fields.”

‘We look forward to stronger cooperation between the two countries in development areas, and Lebanon is interested in Cypr
us being supportive within the European Union to request support and relief for Syrian refugees in their country.”

In another meeting, the Prime Minister received UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Wronecka, with whom he discussed the regular briefing to the Security Council on Resolution 1701.

Prime Minister Mikati also met with Minister of Justice, Henry Khoury, with whom he discussed matters related to his ministry.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister received Nisreen Mashmoushi, President of the Civil Service Council, with whom he discussed discussed administrative affairs with her.

Mikati also met at the Grand Serail with a delegation of the “National Balance Gathering’ who extended to the Premier well-wishes on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a statement distributed by the delegation in the wake of the visit, it indicated that Premier Mikati stressed the necessity of electing the President of the Republic as soon as possible, and hailed the efforts exerted by the Quintet Committee
, and the initiative of the parliamentary National Moderation Bloc.

Mikati also had audience today with former ministers Samir Jisr and Rashid Derbas.

ONE MARTYR, 10 INJURED IN ISRAELI ENEMY AIRSTRIKE ON DHOUR AL-AYROUN NEIGHBORHOOD IN BAALBEK’S SEREEN


The casualty toll from the Israeli enemy airstrike that destroyed a three-storey building in the Dhour Al-Ayroun neighborhood in the vicinity of Sar’een, on the Rayak-Baalbek International Road, had risen to one martyr (initials A.M.F) and 10 others wounded, NNA correspondent reported on Tuesday.

The wounded were transported to the ‘Rayak Hospital’ for treatment, our correspondent added.

Discussions reportedly touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region.

ISLAMIC RESISTANCE IN LEBANON TARGETS ENEMY’S KILAA BARRACKS, MISSILE AND ARTILLERY BASE IN YOAV


The Islamic Resistance in Lebanon on Tuesday issued the following statement: “In support of our steadfast Palestinian people in Gaza and in solidarity with their brave and honorable resistance, and in response to the Israeli aggressions against our people, villages, and cities, most recently near the vicinity of Baalbek where a citizen was martyred, the fighters of the Islamic Resistance launched at 7:00 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, a barrage of more than a hundred Katyusha rockets targeting the Air Defense and Missile Command headquarters in Kilaa Barracks, the missile and artillery base in Yoav, and the artillery positions surrounding them.”

SECURITY UPDATE: ISRAELI WARPLANES STRIKE SOUTHERN LEBANON’S BINT JBEIL, NORTHERN DISTRICT OF AL-KHIYAM


Israeli warplanes on Tuesday conducted an airstrike targeting the northwestern outskirts of southern Lebanon’s Bint Jbeil city with a number of rockets.

The airstrike in Bint Jbeil resulted in the injury of one person with minor wounds as he happened to be passing by at the moment of the attack. He was promptly transported by a vehicle belonging to the Islamic Scouts of the Message for medical treatment.

Furthermore, enemy warplanes targeted the outskirts of the town of Ayta Al-Shaab.

Over 650 Chilean lawyers file ICC complaint against Israel for genocidal crimes against PalestiniansFRANGIEH BROACHES DEVELOPMENTS WITH PAPAL AMBASSADOR

SANTIAGO: More than 650 Chilean lawyers filed a legal complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) against the Israeli government and its president, Benjamin Netanyahu, for crimes against humanity, genocide and war crimes committed against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The legal complaint was filed by a delegation of Chilean lawyers, including Chilean lawyer and former ambassador, Nelson Hadad, Vice President of the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH) Shawan Jabarin and Chilean lawyer and professor, Rodolfo Marcone-Lo Presti.

According to Chilean lawyer Nelson Haddad, lawyers from various Latin American countries will likely join the complaint.

DAY 158 OF GENOCIDE: DOZENS OF CIVILIANS KILLED BY ISRAELI AIRSTRIKES IN GAZA


DOZENS OF PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS WERE KILLED, AND OTHERS SUSTAINED VARIOUS INJURIES, IN THE ONGOING ISRAELI OCCUPATION BOMBARDMENT OF VARIOUS AREAS IN THE GAZA STRIP, BY LAND, SEA, AND AIR, FOR THE 158TH DAY.

WAFA CORRESPONDENT SAID THAT THE OCCUPATION WARPLANES LAUNCHED THREE RAIDS TARGETING HOMES IN AL-ZAYTOUN NEIGHBORHOOD, SOUTHEAST OF GAZA CITY, KILLING 10 PEOPLE AND INJURING ABOUT 20 OTHERS.

HE ADDED THAT THE OCCUPATION ARTILLERY BOMBED AREAS IN THE AL-SABRA, SHEIKH AJLIN, AND TAL AL-HAWA NEIGHBORHOODS IN GAZA CITY, KILLING AT LEAST THREE CITIZENS, WHO WERE TRANSFERRED TO AL-SHIFA MEDICAL COMPLEX.

FOUR PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND OTHERS WERE INJURED WHEN ISRAELI WARPLANES BOMBED TWO HOUSES IN JABALIA CAMP IN THE NORTHERN GAZA STRIP, ACCOMPANIED BY ARTILLERY SHELLING ON CITIZENS’ HOMES.

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STRIP, ISRAELI OCCUPATION AIRCRAFT LAUNCHED A SERIES OF RAIDS ON DEIR AL-BALAH, THE NUSEIRAT CAMP, AL-BUREIJ, AND AL-MAGHAZI, KILLING A NUMBER OF CITIZENS AND INJURING OTHERS.

MEDICAL SOURCES SAID EIGHT
CITIZENS WERE KILLED, INCLUDING A NUMBER OF MISSING PERSONS, AS A RESULT OF THE OCCUPATION BOMBING OF A HOUSE OWNED BY ABU SINJAR FAMILY IN DEIR AL-BALAH.

EAST OF KHAN YUNIS, IN THE SOUTH OF THE GAZA STRIP, OCCUPATION AIRCRAFT BOMBED A HOUSE IN THE TOWN OF BANI SUHAILA, WHILE A SECOND RAID TARGETED THE CITY CENTER, WHICH KILLED AND WOUNDED A NUMBER OF PEOPLE.

IN THE TOWN OF AL-QARARA, NORTH OF KHAN YUNIS, WARPLANES DESTROYED AN ENTIRE RESIDENTIAL SQUARE IN THE AREA, KILLING 11 CIVILIANS.

In Rafah, another Israeli raid targeted a house in El Geneina neighborhood, while other areas were bombed near shelter centers and tents for displaced people.

In an infinite toll, the number of slain Palestinians since the start of the aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7th has risen to 31,112, while 72,760 others were injured.
