Colombia and Uruguay advanced further in the COPA America 2024 held in the United States with both ousting Panama and Brazil respectively. In the quarterfinal match held at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Colombia pulverized Panama, scoring five goals in the eighth, 15th, 41st, 70th, 90+4th minutes of the match by the way of Jhon Cordoba, James Rodriguez, Luis Diaz, Richard Rios, and Miguel Borja. In the second quarterfinal match -- held in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada -- Uruguay beat Brazil via a penalty shootout 4-2 to advance to the semifinals facing Colombia next Thursday. Uruguay were down a player because of a red card for Nahitan Nandez at the 74th minute, but managed to pull a win despite the relentless Brazilian offensive. Argentina and Canada will be facing off in the other semifinal match Wednesday. Both Argentina and Uruguay, with 15 titles under their belts, are keen on increasing their tally if and when they managed to reach the final match of the tournament schedu led July 14.
