Amman: The Ministry of Social Development announced it completed 9,377 health insurance transactions for underprivileged families, 182 exemptions from treatment expenses, and 61 transactions for the purpose of settling heirs' rights during last July, according to Director of Productivity Enhancement and Housing Directorate at the Ministry, Sirin Hakouz. In remarks to "Petra" Thursday, Hakouz noted the ministry receives applications to obtain health insurance services for poor families based on specified conditions and requests to benefit from loans for productive families. As for productive family loans, Hakouz added that this process aims to provide an additional source of income for the targeted families to improve their economic conditions, and create new job opportunities. Hakuz noted that launch of productive projects does "not affect the eligibility" of families, who receive cash assistance from the National Aid Fund (NAF) for two years, according to the applicable instructions. In another effort, s he stated that the ministry receives applications for maintenance, construction, or purchase of housing for poor households, which is disbursed to beneficiary lists chronologically.
