Amman: The Ministry of Labor, based on the decisions issued by the Special Bureau for the Interpretation of Laws, said any government communiqués issued to specify official and religious holidays includes the Kingdom's private sector institutions. In a statement Wednesday, the ministry said Article 59 of Jordan Labor Law clearly set the compensation mechanism for employing a worker on a weekly rest day, and religious, or official holidays, adding that the working person is then entitled to an additional pay of no less than 150% of his usual wage. The ministry added that it sent letters to all concerned stakeholders in this regard, namely Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply, Ministry of Investment, Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI), Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC), and other trade bodies.
