French President Emmanuel Macron denounced on Sunday the assassination attempt on former U.S. president Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. President Macron wrote on X that his thoughts are with Trump and wished him a speedy recovery, affirming, "France shares the shock and indignation of the American people." In a similar tweet, French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Stephane Sejourne called the shooting a "shocking attack on Donald Trump," affirming that "political violence and intimidation in democracy are unacceptable."
