Amman: Jordan Monday recorded the first case of West Nile fever, which was detected by Health Ministry laboratories through a fever surveillance program of selected areas, the ministry said. The patient, a 6-year-old girl, was recovering and in a stable condition, but remained under medical supervision, the ministry's secretary-general for Primary Health Care and Epidemics Raed Shboul said. Shboul said the surveillance areas were geographically designated, assuring that the disease is not transmitted from human to human and that it is not a public health concern. The ministry, he added, has a strong surveillance program to diagnose and detect cases. Source: Jordan News Agency
