Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati renewed a call on the international community on Tuesday to stop Israeli attacks and threats against Lebanon to reach a solution based on the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701. Mikati said in a statement that he made a series of contacts and held meetings yesterday, "which helped to forge understanding among Lebanon's friends of the need to pressure Israel to stop the situation from slipping into a situation with unpredictable consequences." "The pressure is on, and we hope it will lead to a satisfactory outcome soon," he added. He said last week's deadly Israeli attack on the southern suburb of Beirut raised the "complexities of the current situation and fears of confrontations in the field that could push the region toward an all-out war."
