Severe traffic congestion is currently crippling Khaldeh highway and its intersections in both directions, as well as the route leading from the highway into Beirut. The gridlock is caused by a government decision to close schools and universities, prompting parents to collect their children, and by a significant influx of people fleeing southern Lebanon due to escalating security tensions.
