ABU DHABI: The UAE's two-week initiative, "UAE stands with Lebanon," has successfully gathered more than AED 110 million in its first week to assist Lebanon with crucial supplies including food, medical resources, and shelter equipment. According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign was set in motion following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, and under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes" Affairs and Chair of the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council. This substantial collection reflects the global community's support and the enduring humanitarian legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The UAE has been actively involved in supporting Lebanon since the on set of the crisis, providing US$100 million in urgent aid and an additional $30 million to assist Lebanese refugees in Syria. The relief efforts have included the deployment of 10 aircraft, delivering 450 tonnes of aid materials to the region. The campaign showcases the UAE's commitment to international humanitarian efforts and its quick mobilization to provide aid in times of crisis.
