AMMAN: His Majesty King Abdullah II met with a delegation from the US House of Representatives Armed Services Committee, led by Representative Mike Rogers, to discuss strategic partnerships and regional stability, particularly focusing on the conflict in Gaza and Israeli actions in Lebanon and Jerusalem. According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting, which also included His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, touched on recent developments and explored ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States. King Abdullah emphasized the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza as a critical step towards achieving comprehensive regional calm. He reiterated Jordan's stance against the displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, highlighting the need to escalate humanitarian efforts to address the crisis in the Strip. His Majesty also expressed concerns over the ongoing Israeli violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, and violatio ns against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. He stressed the importance of intensifying international efforts to halt the Israeli war on Lebanon, underscoring the need to respect Lebanon's sovereignty and ensure its security and stability. The discussion further covered the longstanding relationship between Jordan and the United States, with the King expressing his eagerness to expand cooperation across various sectors. He also acknowledged the continuous support provided by Washington to Jordan. The meeting was attended by Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh and US Ambassador to Jordan Yael Lempert, highlighting the significance of the discussions.
