Jordan’s King Advocates for Immediate Gaza Ceasefire to Stabilize Region

Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasized the necessity of an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza to facilitate a broader regional peace, during a pivotal meeting with the US House of Representatives Armed Services Committee on Tuesday. According to Maan News Agency, the conversation, which included Committee Chairman Representative Mike Rogers, centered on Jordan's firm opposition to the displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. The monarch highlighted the critical need for enhancing humanitarian efforts in Gaza, ensuring the unimpeded delivery of relief aid to halt the ongoing humanitarian disaster. He cautioned against the severe implications of continued Israeli assaults in the West Bank and breaches of religious sanctuaries in Jerusalem. Further, King Abdullah underscored the urgency of international cooperation to cease the military actions in Lebanon, urging respect for its sovereignty and the safeguarding of its security and stability.
