Hebron Schools Suspend Classes Amidst Security Raids and Detentions

HEBRON: The coordinator of the Popular and National Committees to Resist the Wall and Settlements in southern Hebron, Rateb al-Jabour, reported a significant escalation in security operations by occupation forces in Yatta early this morning. These operations included home raids and the detention of over 22 citizens, who were subsequently beaten during field interrogations. According to Maan News Agency, the Director General of the Education Directorate in Yatta, Yasser Mohammed, announced the temporary suspension of school hours in the region. This decision was made to ensure the safety of students and educational staff amid the ongoing security disturbances. The suspended school hours are set to be compensated in the upcoming days. Al-Jabour detailed that the occupation forces used aggressive tactics during the raids, including the firing of sound bombs and tear gas canisters at residential areas. This resulted in several cases of suffocation among the citizens, who needed immediate field treatment. Furthe rmore, he noted that many of those detained were subjected to severe beatings, leading some to seek hospital treatment after their release. This incident marks a significant disruption in the daily life of Yatta's residents, affecting educational activities and raising concerns about the safety and well-being of the community.
