DUBAI: The latest edition of Expand North Star has successfully established a dynamic platform for startups to introduce groundbreaking smart technologies to the global market. Held at Dubai Harbour from October 13 to 16 and organized by Dubai World Trade Centre in collaboration with Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, this event has not only underscored Dubai's role as a global hub for innovative technologies but also provided significant opportunities for startups to connect with investors and industry leaders. According to Emirates News Agency, Expand North Star 2024 featured a wide array of innovative digital solutions across various sectors, significantly enhancing Dubai's status as a key player in the global digital economy. The event attracted some of the world's most creative minds, presenting pioneering technologies that ranged from sustainable water generation systems to revolutionary aviation propulsion technologies and advanced medical imaging solutions. Among the notable participants was CycloTec h, an Austrian startup, which unveiled its cyclo rotor propulsion system designed for urban air mobility. This technology allows for enhanced maneuverability in aircraft, making it particularly suitable for flying cars. Ramy Korkis Kanaan, a Flight Test Engineer at CycloTech, emphasized the strategic importance of Dubai for the company's growth, highlighting the event as a crucial platform for networking with potential partners and investors in the region. Beijing Sebo, a Chinese firm, introduced a novel hands-free mobile charging solution for electric vehicles, which operates via an app-controlled autonomous charging service. Lin Lin, the General Manager for Overseas Business at Beijing Sebo, pointed out Dubai's increasing adoption of electric vehicles and its focus on sustainability as key factors for choosing the city to launch and expand their innovative services. Additionally, Mahwa, part of the UAE-based Bainuna Group, showcased its atmospheric water generation technology, which uses a patented proces s to extract water from air, offering a solution to water scarcity challenges. Meanwhile, Holoeyes from Japan demonstrated its advanced medical visualization tools that leverage cloud technology to improve medical education and surgical planning.
