Expand North Star 2024 Concludes with Record-Breaking Global Participation

Dubai: Expand North Star 2024, the world's largest event for startups and investors, wrapped up on Wednesday with unprecedented global attendance and participation, marking it as a historic success in its series. Hosted by the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy and organized by the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event ran from October 13-16 at Dubai Harbour, drawing in more than 1,800 startups and over 1,200 investors from 100 countries. According to Emirates News Agency, this year's edition was the largest in the event's history, with assets under management by participating investors exceeding US$1 trillion. The significant increase in attendance and the participation of 65 unicorn companies with a combined market value of over US$400 billion underscored the event's growing importance on the global digital economy stage. The event not only featured a record number of startups, with 1,584 participating for the first time, but also welcomed new country participations from Austria, Australia, Canada, Greece, Ir eland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Malaysia, and Singapore. This expansion reinforced Dubai's status as a prime destination for global talent and innovative startups. Additionally, new investors from Azerbaijan, Mauritius, Denmark, Peru, Malta, and Cyprus were present, expanding the event's international reach and influence. This year's Expand North Star also saw the largest European startup participation in its history, with over 350 startups from various sectors. The Brazilian pavilion was notably active with 50 digital companies, highlighting Dubai as their chosen hub for global expansion. The event introduced several new exhibitions such as the Corporate Arena, Technology Transfer 3.0, The Future of Media and Creativity, NS Scaleups: 2024 Cohort, Sonar+D, and the Startup Genome Ecosystem Leadership Forum. These segments offered insights into future technological trends, promoting innovation and growth within the startup ecosystem. Furthermore, the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy's pavilion attracted ov er 3,200 visitors. The chamber's Launchpad Dubai initiative drew more than 800 attendees, emphasizing the platform's role in supporting business establishment and growth in Dubai. Dedicated programs like GITEX Impact, Fintech Surge, Future Blockchain Summit, and Marketing Mania provided deep dives into the future of finance, blockchain, and creative industries. The event concluded with the global finals of the Supernova Challenge 2.0, where 200 startups competed for a US$200,000 cash prize after a rigorous six-month semi-final stage held worldwide. As Expand North Star 2024 concludes, its success further cements Dubai's ambition to become a leading global hub for innovation and technology, pivotal in driving economic growth and attracting a worldwide tech community.
