Kuwait Affirms Support for Palestinian Cause Through Diplomatic Channels

KUWAIT CITY: The State of Kuwait has reiterated its commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause through political, diplomatic, and humanitarian efforts, a Kuwaiti official stated on Friday. This announcement underscores Kuwait's ongoing dedication to advocating for Palestinian rights on the international stage, aiming to achieve a fair and lasting resolution to the longstanding conflict with Israel. According to Kuwait News Agency, Abdullah Bu Abbas, Kuwait's diplomatic attaché, emphasized the country's support during a speech to the UN's second committee on economic affairs concerning Palestine. He stated that Kuwait is actively involved in international political initiatives designed to recognize Palestine within the global community and address the challenges posed by Israeli occupation. Bu Abbas called on the international community to bolster support for Palestinians, who have endured prolonged aggression from Israeli forces. The official highlighted the severe economic difficulties facing Palestine , which impede its progress and stability. He pointed to the ongoing political unrest and the blockade imposed by Israel, which has adversely affected critical sectors such as agriculture, industry, and trade. Bu Abbas cited a UN report from May, noting that over 80 percent of Gaza's population lives below the poverty line, and approximately 5.8 percent of agricultural and food industries in the West Bank have nearly ceased operations. Bu Abbas further expressed concern over the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, noting the lack of significant improvements in aid access and healthcare support in recent weeks. He also referenced several UN Security Council resolutions aimed at ensuring civilian protection in Palestine, reinforcing Kuwait's call for international action to alleviate the plight of Palestinians.
