Kuwait city: Kuwait University (KU) engaged in talks with a delegation from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on Monday, discussing ways to enhance the university's role in Kuwait's burgeoning space sector. According to Kuwait News Agency, the meeting focused on fostering collaboration in research, education, and training initiatives between KU and NASA. Hala Al-Jassar, Head of the Physics Department at Kuwait University and project director for Kuwait's first satellite, emphasized the delegation's role in supporting these areas. She highlighted the visit as a pivotal moment for advancing space science education and research at KU. Dr. Yasser Abdulrahim, a professor at KU's Faculty of Engineering and Petroleum, mentioned the benefits of the collaboration for students, particularly in terms of experience exchange in the field of space. Further elaborating on the academic advantages, Dr. Suzanne Al-Bustan, KU's Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, Research, and Graduate Studies, indicat ed that the cooperation would extend beyond space science to benefit various other fields. From NASA's perspective, Deputy Associate Administrator Casey Swails lauded the ongoing collaboration and expressed optimism about the future contributions of this partnership to both entities. Additionally, Hussain Al-Mousa, representing both Kuwait Oil Company and Kuwait Satellite (Sat-1), shared specifics about the satellite project, stating its aim to capture and disseminate images through various communication platforms, illustrating a practical example of the technological advancements being pursued as part of this collaboration.
