KUWAIT CITY: The State of Kuwait has issued a stern warning to the international community, urging it to avoid descending into unending warfare amid ongoing Israeli military actions in Palestine, Lebanon, and the broader region. The call was made during a speech at the United Nations General Assembly by Abdulaziz Al-Saeedi, Diplomatic Attache of Kuwait's Permanent Delegation, as the assembly prepared to discuss the International Atomic Energy Agency's report. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Saeedi criticized the Israeli occupation for initiating multiple conflicts under the guise of self-defense, accusing it of deliberately fostering regional instability. Kuwait appealed for Israel to join the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons as a non-nuclear-weapon state and to subject its nuclear facilities to the International Atomic Energy Agency's comprehensive safeguards. Al-Saeedi emphasized Kuwait's commitment to international nuclear security treaties and the peaceful use of nuclear energy, hi ghlighting the nation's ongoing participation in discussions related to the International Atomic Energy Agency's report. He noted Kuwait's 60th anniversary of joining the agency and underscored the country's dedication to collaboration on developmental, economic, and social projects through nuclear applications. The diplomatic attache stressed the importance of peace and security for global progress, warning against the dangers posed by nuclear weapon development and usage. In his address, Al-Saeedi urged North Korea to adhere to international nuclear security treaties and relevant Security Council resolutions, cautioning that nuclear threats do not lead to peace but increase global risks. Al-Saeedi also expressed concern over the modernization of nuclear arsenals by some countries and the continued policy of nuclear deterrence. He asserted that security and peace are achieved not through armament but through dialogue and cooperation, calling for increased international efforts to eliminate nuclear and othe r weapons of mass destruction.
