Abu Dhabi Maritime Awards Attracts 120 Submissions from Eight Countries

ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Maritime, in partnership with the Integrated Transport Centre of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has reported receiving 120 submissions from marinas spanning eight countries for the second edition of the Abu Dhabi Maritime Awards (Marina Edition). The awards aim to recognize excellence in the maritime sector across six categories, including sustainability, employer excellence, health and safety, customer experience, innovation, and outstanding marina. According to Emirates News Agency, the deadline for entries was extended due to significant interest, reflecting the marine sector's enthusiasm and the awards program's growing importance. Submissions were open to licensed marina operators and owners in the Middle East, North Africa, and Trkiye. These are currently undergoing a preliminary review by a team of assessors who will score each entry based on specific criteria such as operational excellence, sustainability, and innovation. The results of this analysis will be pre sented to a jury comprised of leaders and experts in the maritime industry, who will make the final decision on the winners. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Abu Dhabi International Boat Show on November 23, 2024. Additionally, marinas can compete for the 'Most Popular Marina' title, determined by public vote through a secure online system. Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director-General of the Integrated Transport Centre, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership and the interest it has generated. He highlighted the commitment to advancing Abu Dhabi's maritime sector and improving maritime transport facilities to meet international standards. Captain Saif Al Mheiri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Maritime, emphasized the awards as a leading platform for recognizing innovation and excellence in marina operations and sustainability. The initiative follows a successful debut in 2023 and aims to further the development of a resilient maritime sector in Abu Dhabi.
