Phosphorus Shelling and Air Raids Ignite Fires in Southern Lebanon

JEZZINE: A series of air raids and artillery shelling by Israeli forces targeted multiple locations in southern Lebanon, leading to power outages and fires, particularly in forested areas. The strikes, which included the use of phosphorus shells, were reported across several towns and villages, causing significant disruption and damage. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Israeli warplanes conducted raids on the outskirts of al-Aishiya, Sajad, al-Jarmak, and a particularly severe attack on al-Qatrani, which resulted in power outages in the towns of al-Sraira and al-Qatrani, and ignited fires in the Jouret Khodr forest. Further north, an enemy raid was reported on Adaisseh and the outskirts of al-Taybeh, while phosphorus artillery bombardment affected the areas surrounding Halta and Wadi Khansa. The agency also detailed violent artillery shelling between Majdalzoun and Shama', which resulted in additional fires. In the town of Rashkananiya, an Israeli drone targeted a bulldozer performing roadwork, though no casualties were reported. These actions have compounded tensions in the region, with local residents facing the dual challenges of military activity and the environmental impact of the resulting fires.
