Kuwait city: In a symbolic gesture highlighting 125 years of diplomatic relations, a new mural was unveiled at Souq Al-Mubarakiya in Kuwait City. Organized by the National Council for Culture Arts and Literature (NCCAL) in collaboration with the British Embassy, the ceremony marked a significant cultural event attended by dignitaries and artists from both nations. According to Kuwait News Agency, British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis emphasized the mural's representation of shared symbols and meanings between the United Kingdom and Kuwait. Among these symbols is the hoopoe, a bird that migrates annually between the two countries, signifying the enduring connection. The artwork, a collaborative effort by British artist Megan Russsel and Kuwaiti artist Yusuf Saleh, aims to commemorate the deep-rooted history of bilateral ties. The mural also features roses and pearls, elements historically significant to Kuwait, underscoring the ongoing reciprocal development in various fields between the two nations. Le wis noted that the artwork reflects the fruitful exchange of ideas and collaboration over the years. Abdullah Yaseen, head of the NCCAL national project, stated that this mural is part of a broader initiative to enhance cultural and artistic cooperation. He noted that the project aims to elevate the artistic standards of local artists while highlighting their creativity and skill development. Yaseen also revealed plans for a second mural, to be created in collaboration with the Australian Embassy, further enriching the cultural landscape of Souq Al-Mubarakiya in the coming weeks.
