Kuwait city: The Arab Parliament has renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire in response to what it describes as brutal aggression by Israeli forces against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied territories, as well as actions against Lebanon. The demand was made during the first session of the parliament in its new formation, with Speaker Mohammad Al-Yamahi emphasizing the urgency of the situation. According to Kuwait News Agency, Al-Yamahi addressed the session by calling on the international community and its institutions to take decisive action to halt the ongoing violence. He highlighted the importance of restoring the authority of international humanitarian law as a means to stop what he termed as aggression. Al-Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament's steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, pledging continued advocacy until Palestinians achieve their legitimate rights, including the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital. He underscored the need for national unity across Arab nations, particularly in light of what he described as genocide and forced displacement faced by Palestinians for over a year. The Arab Parliament's position reflects ongoing regional concerns about the humanitarian and political crisis in the affected areas, adding pressure on international actors to address the conflict.
