Bou Habib Condemns Attacks on UNIFIL Austrian Contingent.

Beirut: Caretaker Foreign Minister, Abdallah Bou Habib, received a phone call from his Austrian counterpart, Alexander Schallenberg, following a rocket attack that injured Austrian UNIFIL soldiers in the south. During the contact, Bou Habib condemned the attack, stressing the obligation to protect the safety and security of UN personnel and property. He also reiterated Lebanon's commitment to implementing UN Resolution 1701. Bou Habib also contacted UNIFIL Commander, Major General Aroldo Lazaro, condemning the attack. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the phone call between the two foreign ministers was prompted by the recent attack that targeted the Austrian contingent of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The incident has raised concerns about the safety of UN peacekeepers operating in volatile regions. Bou Habib emphasized the importance of safeguarding UN forces and ensuring that such incidents do not recur, highlighting Lebanon's dedication to upholding international peacek eeping mandates and fostering stability in the region.
