BEIRUT: The Kataeb's Political Bureau convened for its weekly meeting under the leadership of the party's Vice President, Professor Bernard Gerbaka. The meeting culminated in the issuance of a statement addressing current issues affecting Lebanon. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Political Bureau strongly condemned the ongoing campaign against the Lebanese Armed Forces, emphasizing its role as the sole institution that unites the nation and garners the full confidence of the Lebanese populace. The army is seen as a pivotal entity for restoring state authority, ending Lebanon's cycles of conflict, and protecting the country from any nefarious schemes that could destabilize it. The Kataeb Party called on the government to immediately implement a ceasefire and to task the Lebanese Armed Forces with deploying along the borders, in accordance with international resolutions. The statement also highlighted the need for the international community to prioritize Lebanon's national interests above tho se of Iran and Israel, asserting Lebanon's sovereign rights. It underscored the importance of Lebanon's active participation at the negotiating table, especially in anticipation of changes in the U.S. administration. The Kataeb Political Bureau expressed hope that upcoming peace efforts would yield solutions beneficial to the Lebanese people, preserving their interests and the nation's regional role.
