Hochstein Optimistic About Lebanon-Israel Conflict Resolution After Meeting with Berri.

Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri on Tuesday hosted U.S. Presidential Envoy Amos Hochstein and his delegation at the Second Presidency in Ain al-Tineh. The high-level meeting included U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson and Berri's media advisor Ali Hamdan, focusing primarily on the escalating tensions between Israel and Lebanon. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the discussions centered on the latest developments affecting Lebanon and the broader region amidst increasing Israeli aggression. Following a two-hour dialogue, Hochstein reported to the media that significant progress had been made. "I had a constructive and highly beneficial meeting with Speaker Berri. We have made progress in narrowing the gaps today," he affirmed, highlighting the potential for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict. Hochstein emphasized the importance of prompt decision-making by involved parties to reach a resolution. "The solution is within reach, and the window is open now. I hope that in the coming d ays, we will achieve a resolution," he noted, while refraining from public negotiations. He expressed gratitude for the productive discussions with Lebanese leadership and reiterated his commitment to facilitating resolution efforts between Lebanon and Israel. In a separate development, Speaker Berri received a congratulatory message from U.S. President Joe Biden on the occasion of Lebanon's 81st Independence Day. Biden conveyed his congratulations and support to Lebanon, stating: "On behalf of the American people, I congratulate you and the people of Lebanon on this occasion. During this challenging time in Lebanon's history, the United States stands with the Lebanese people." The U.S. President emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two nations and expressed hopes for continued progress towards stability and prosperity, wishing the Lebanese people "strength and resilience during these difficult times."
