Palestine Land Studies Center at AUB Announces the Abu Sittah-Gilbert Humanitarian Award.

Beirut: The Palestine Land Studies Center (PLSC) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) has announced the launch of the Abu Sittah-Gilbert Humanitarian Award (ASGHA), an initiative aimed at recognizing the exceptional contributions of health professionals who risk their lives and livelihoods to provide care and protection in active war zones and conflict settings. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the award is named in honor of two distinguished humanitarians. Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah, a Palestinian-British reconstructive surgeon, is celebrated for his extensive work in war-torn regions such as Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and Lebanon, where his efforts have been instrumental in saving countless lives. Dr. Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian anesthesiologist and activist, has dedicated over four decades to supporting Gaza's healthcare system, showcasing a lifetime commitment to humanitarian action. The PLSC is encouraging the global community to engage with this initiative by nominating deserving candi dates or contributing to the award through donations.
