Lebanon Partakes in 17th World Forum on Food & Agriculture in Berlin

Berlin: Represented by its Ambassador to Germany, Mustafa Adeeb, and the Agriculture Ministry Director General, Louis Lahoud, Lebanon participated in the 17th World Forum on Food and Agriculture and the Berlin International Green Week 2025. The event gathered agricultural ministers and heads of delegations from various parts of the world and international organizations.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the meetings addressed agricultural conditions, food security, and the fight against global hunger. Discussions focused on food systems that are resilient to crises and climate changes, friendly to biodiversity, and promote sustainable production and food sovereignty. The participants also emphasized developing resilient supply chains and improving international cooperation to achieve sustainable food security.

The Lebanese delegation highlighted the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Lebanon, particularly the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on agricultural lands. They reported severe damage to the sector due to the use of destructive weapons, including white phosphorus and cluster bombs.

Furthermore, Lebanon's delegation addressed the impact of the economic crisis on farmers. They called on agriculture ministries and international organizations to support Lebanon's agricultural sector, especially in terms of infrastructure, agricultural programs and projects, and opening markets to Lebanese products to strengthen farmers' resilience.

The Agriculture Ministry Director General expressed gratitude to Ambassador Adeeb and the embassy team for their efforts in preparing for Lebanon's participation and opening German markets to Lebanese agricultural products in recent years.

Additionally, discussions were held on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Lebanese embassy and expatriate community in Germany to increase the export of Lebanese agricultural products and food industries to German markets.
