Amman: President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas expressed his appreciation to Jordanian King Abdullah II, praising the firm and supportive positions adopted by the Kingdom towards the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. In his message, Abbas highlighted Jordan's unwavering stance in supporting the survival and steadfastness of Palestinians on their land, rejecting any attempts to displace them from the Gaza Strip or the West Bank. He emphasized that Jordan's position aligns with international law and reflects the strong fraternal relations between the two peoples.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Abbas also commended King Abdullah II for his warnings about the potential escalation in the West Bank and the ongoing Israeli violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. The President appreciated Jordan's continuous efforts to ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip and its significant role in supporting a sustainable ceasefire to ease the suffering of the Palestinian people amid challenging humanitarian conditions.
Abbas noted that Jordan's stance is a testament to its historical commitment to the Palestinian cause, supporting Palestinians in their efforts to remain steadfast and resist any attempts to uproot them from their homeland. He expressed his desire to continue joint efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace based on international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring security and stability for the entire region.
