Berri Leaves Baabda Palace Before End of Trilateral Meeting; Salam Comments, “It Worked Out, and It Didn’t”

Baabda: House Speaker Nabih Berri on Thursday left Baabda Palace before the conclusion of a high-level trilateral meeting, while President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister-designate Naufal Salam remained.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, five minutes after Berri's departure, Salam also exited the meeting without providing a formal statement to the press. The meeting had been widely anticipated to result in the issuance of decrees formalizing the new government.

When questioned about whether the government formation process had been finalized, Salam enigmatically replied, "It worked out, and it didn't." The lack of a definitive outcome from the meeting has left political analysts and the public speculating about the next steps in the government formation process.
