Beirut: Lebanese national team player Anthony Naufal (under 55 kg) won a silver medal in the Kyorugi style (freestyle fighting) in the Turkey Open Taekwondo Championship. Naufal is a member of the Lebanese delegation participating under the supervision of the Iranian coach, former world champion Farzad Abdullah.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Naufal succeeded in qualifying for the final round. He played six matches, winning in the quarter-finals against a Turkish player, in the semi-finals against an Iranian player, and losing in the final to a Turkish player.
President of the Lebanese Taekwondo Federation, Habib Zarifah, contacted Naufal and congratulated him on the silver medal.
Jane Abboud (13 years old) had earlier won a silver medal for Lebanon on the first day of the tournament.
