Bkirki: Maronite Patriarch, Cardinal Bechara Boutros al-Rahi, welcomed Telecommunications Minister Charles al-Hajj in Bkirki. Al-Hajj expressed his honor in meeting the Patriarch, seeking both spiritual and national support as he embarks on his ministerial duties to aid Lebanon's recovery and reestablish its global standing.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister al-Hajj emphasized the importance of appointing a regulatory authority and implementing the telecommunications law as priority actions. He conveyed his commitment to improving telecommunications through strategic investments that focus on delivering quality service and competitive pricing, which he believes are essential for the sector to become a cornerstone of Lebanon's economy.
Addressing the concept of positive neutrality, al-Hajj supported the Patriarch's call for Lebanon to maintain impartiality, promoting the country's interests by aligning with Arab nations when in agreement and remaining neutral during disagreements. He noted that Lebanon experienced stability when adhering to this principle, suggesting it should be a guiding approach moving forward.
Minister al-Hajj concluded by highlighting the historical role of the Lebanese people as integral members and advocates of the Arab world, a legacy he believes should be revived to strengthen Lebanon's regional ties and influence.
