Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, is set to launch the Digital Gates Project at Rafic Hariri International Airport, scheduled for Friday, March 7, 2025. The initiative, titled "Beyond Aviation: The Smart Airport Experience," is in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the German Federal Police.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the $1.1 million project, implemented by Black Delta Defence, involves the installation of 30 digital gates aimed at enhancing airport efficiency and security. The upgrades include six pre-security boarding gates to streamline passenger movement and twenty-four gates at the General Security area to improve border control measures. Additionally, a queuing flow management system will be introduced to optimize passenger circulation throughout the airport.
The event will feature speeches from several key officials, including Minister Rasamny, Director General of Civil Aviation Mr. Fadi El Hassan, and representatives from the German and Danish embassies, as well as IOM Lebanon. Following the speeches, attendees will have the opportunity to witness the new digital gates in action during a site visit.
The detailed agenda for the event includes remarks from Mr. Fadi El Hassan at 09:10 am, followed by Minister Rasamny at 09:20 am. Subsequent speeches will be given by H.E. Ms. Katharina Lack from the German Embassy, H.E. Kristoffer Vivike, Danish Ambassador to Lebanon, and Mr. Mathieu Luciano, Head of IOM Office in Lebanon. The site visit to experience the new digital gates in operation is scheduled from 10:10 to 11:00 am.
