Prime Minister Nawaf Salam Announces Major Investment Conference in Beirut Next Fall

Beirut: Prime Minister Dr. Nawaf Salam has announced ongoing preparations for a significant investment conference set to take place next fall in Beirut. The event aims to reestablish Lebanon's presence on both the Arab and international economic landscapes while fostering economic ties and development.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Prime Minister Salam revealed these plans during a meeting with the Lebanese-Saudi Business Council delegation at the Grand Serail. The delegation, led by Raouf Abou Zaki, was accompanied by former Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad. The Prime Minister highlighted efforts to lift the Saudi travel ban to Lebanon and the prohibition on Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, which are crucial steps for economic revival.

The Prime Minister also noted the Gulf officials' eagerness, particularly from the Saudi Foreign Minister and Qatar's Prime Minister, to invest in Lebanon, contingent upon the implementation of necessary reforms. Judicial reform was identified as the primary gateway to protecting investors and implementing comprehensive reforms, with economic and financial reforms being a priority.

Salam announced that a new appointment mechanism would be approved by the government next Thursday. He emphasized the importance of the ministerial committee tasked with addressing border issues, combating smuggling at illegal crossings, and enhancing security and stability.

In a separate meeting, Premier Salam engaged with Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, discussing ways to strengthen bilateral relations across various fields. Salam also met with Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon, Qian Minjian, who conveyed a congratulatory message from China's Premier, Li Keqiang, expressing China's intent to enhance cooperation with Lebanon. Ambassador Minjian also announced the lifting of travel restrictions for Chinese citizens visiting Lebanon, reaffirming China's continued support for the country.

Additionally, Salam received a delegation from the Housing Bank, led by Chairman and General Manager Antoine Habib, who updated the Prime Minister on the bank's accomplishments to date.
