President Aoun: Lebanon’s Problem Lies in Law Enforcement, Not Legislation

Beirut: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Tuesday stated that Lebanon's issue is not with its laws but with their enforcement and the accountability of those who violate them. The President made these remarks during a meeting with a delegation from the Tripoli Bar Association, led by its president, Sami Al-Hassan.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun emphasized that the real challenge lies in the selective interpretation of laws based on personal interests. He pointed out that Lebanon's legal framework is adequate, but the application and adherence to these laws are where the country faces significant issues.

Aoun expressed optimism by stating, "With individuals who believe in justice and accountability, we have hope in our collective ability to correct imbalances, combat corruption, and enforce accountability across all levels of society." He stressed that addressing these issues is a shared responsibility and not one that falls solely on his shoulders.

The President's remarks highlight the ongoing challenges Lebanon faces in implementing effective governance and maintaining the rule of law. The discussion with the Tripoli Bar Association underscores the importance of collaboration between different sectors of society to ensure that legal and ethical standards are upheld, aiming to restore public trust in the nation's institutions.
