Beirut: Head of Buildings Safety Network, Engineer Youssef Fawzi Azzam, has raised concerns following the recent Hermel fire, emphasizing its significance as a warning regarding the presence of more than 1,700 unlicensed gas stations across Lebanon. Azzam warned that these stations pose significant risks due to their proximity to residential, commercial, and educational buildings, describing them as "time bombs" and highlighting their violation of urban planning regulations.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Azzam has urged the Ministry of Energy to take action by reopening discussions on regulating fuel stations. He stressed the importance of collaboration with local governors and the Higher Council for Urban Planning to address this pressing issue.
