Beirut: The office of Minister of Information, Attorney Paul Morcos, clarified on Wednesday that the appointment of board members at T©l© Liban is a process within the minister's legal authority. The minister emphasized that while he proposes names for the board, the final decision is made collectively by the Council of Ministers.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the Minister reiterated remarks made at the end of the Cabinet session last Thursday, asserting that appointments at T©l© Liban are not governed by the administrative appointments mechanism. He emphasized that T©l© Liban operates as a private company under commercial law, distinct from public institutions, with its own regulatory framework established by decree.
The statement concluded with Minister Morcos affirming that adherence to the law will guide his actions in strengthening Lebanon's institutions. He highlighted the necessity of collaborative efforts and a unified vision to elevate media operations to the desired standards.
