Beirut: Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea expressed his concerns on his "X" platform account regarding the ongoing issue of drug smuggling in Lebanon. Geagea highlighted a recurring pattern where security services discover and confiscate drug shipments, yet significant arrests rarely follow these operations.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Geagea emphasized that drug-related activities such as Captagon manufacturing and trafficking involve substantial financial investment, organized networks, and sophisticated logistical support. Despite the complexity and scale of these operations, the authorities have primarily succeeded in seizing the contraband and detaining minor operatives, leaving the principal orchestrators unaccounted for.
Geagea urged a shift in focus towards apprehending the key figures behind these smuggling networks. He expressed his hope that with each unveiled smuggling operation, news of the arrest of "big heads" will soon follow, marking a significant step forward in combating the drug trade in Lebanon.
