Retz Forest: The planting of three Lebanese cedar trees marked the inauguration of the “Francophonie Garden” in the Retz Forest, adjacent to the International Academy of the French Language in Villers-C´tterets.
According to National News Agency – Lebanon, the trees were donated by the Lebanese Embassy in Paris as part of efforts to strengthen fraternal Lebanese-French relations. The event saw attendance from French officials, embassy staff, and members of the Lebanese expatriate community.
Acting Charg© d’Affaires Ziad Taan expressed gratitude to the organizers of the “Francophonie Garden” project. He conveyed his pride that the Lebanese cedar trees were the first to be planted in the garden, highlighting Lebanon’s role as one of the founding countries of the International Organization of La Francophonie in 1970.
Taan mentioned that the trees planted are part of a broader initiative to plant cedar trees in several parks across French cities.
