Makhzoumi Reflects on Lebanon’s Past and Urges for Unified Future

Beirut: MP Fouad Makhzoumi recently expressed his thoughts on his "X" account, marking the fiftieth anniversary of April 13, a significant date in Lebanese history. He emphasized the importance of learning from past experiences to prevent future strife and chaos. Makhzoumi advocates for the disarmament of all groups, both Lebanese and non-Lebanese, and stresses the need for the legitimate government to be the sole possessor of weaponry. He also called for the implementation of Resolution 1701 and the Taif Agreement to ensure the state's exclusive authority over its territory.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Makhzoumi highlighted the opportunity Lebanon has to shape its present and future. He believes that this can only be achieved through the establishment of a state of institutions that is supported by the international community and the Arab world, and strengthened by the constitution and international legitimacy.

Makhzoumi urged the Lebanese people to unite in building a true state, safeguarding coexistence, and facilitating the return of the Lebanese diaspora. He called for confronting the challenges of wars and destruction by embracing Lebanon's defining feature: a culture of life.
