Major General Abbas Ibrahim Attends Beirut Port Explosion Case Interrogation

Beirut: Major General Abbas Ibrahim, despite legal challenges, attended his interrogation session with the Judicial Investigator regarding the Beirut Port Explosion case. This appearance comes amid his ongoing lawsuit against the state, which questions the liability of judicial judges, filed with the General Assembly of the Court of Cassation.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Major General Ibrahim emphasized his reliance on administrative immunity under Article 61 of the Civil Servants Law No. 112/1959 at the start of the session. He expressed no objection to the continuation of the interrogation, even though the Judicial Investigator previously declared himself exempt from legal procedures related to disqualification and recusal.

The legal representatives of Major General Ibrahim, Attorneys Samer Hassan El-Hajj, Ahmad Shawqi Al-Mustarah, and Qassem Mohammad Karim, stated that his participation in the session underscores his adherence to legal authority and the judiciary. They emphasized his respect for the families affected by the explosion, his commitment to justice, and his intent to support the legal process rather than hinder it.
