Beirut: The Ministry of Interior on Sunday released updated voter turnout rates for the ongoing municipal and mukhtar elections in North Lebanon and Akkar, as polling progressed throughout the day.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the turnout percentages in various regions have been reported, highlighting Batroun as the area with the highest voter engagement.
The detailed figures reveal that Akkar experienced a voter turnout of 17.13%, while Tripoli recorded a significantly lower turnout of 5.36%. Zgharta saw 13.84% of its eligible voters casting their ballots. In Bsharri, the turnout was slightly higher at 12.14%, whereas Minieh-Dannieh had a turnout of 16.86%. Koura reported a turnout of 14.28%. Batroun stood out with the highest voter turnout, reaching 19.52%, leading the other regions in terms of voter participation.
The Ministry's release of these figures provides insight into the level of civic engagement across North Lebanon and Akkar, as citizens continue to participate in the democratic process through municipal and mukhtar elections.
