Tripoli: Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Al-Hajjar, on Sunday affirmed during an inspection tour in Tripoli that the municipal and mayoral elections in North Lebanon are proceeding in an "orderly and calm manner."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Al-Hajjar also praised the "effective coordination among all involved agencies." Joined by North Governor Judge Ramzi Nohra and senior security officials, Al-Hajjar commended citizens' commitment and the smooth organization of polling stations. He stressed that any violations are being addressed immediately, adding: 'Security forces are doing their duty and will intervene when necessary to restore order.'
Moreover, Al-Hajjar called on the residents of Akkar, Tripoli, and Danniyeh to vote freely and responsibly, warning that 'security forces will not tolerate violations or breaches of public order.'
Regarding staffing shortages, Hajjar noted that additional employees were summoned and saluted their efforts, saying: 'These staff members are the backbone of the electoral process.' Hajjar also addressed concerns over delegate permits and complaints by persons with disabilities, vowing follow-up on all issues. Finally, he noted that a power outage at one polling center had been resolved and promised reliable electricity during ballot counting hours.
