Tyre: MP Ali Khreis, a member of the Development and Liberation bloc, recently visited multiple polling stations in the city of Tyre, including the Bassel Al-Assad Cultural Center for voters from Shemaa. This visit was part of an effort to assess the electoral process and gauge the public's participation in the municipal elections.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Khreis stated that approximately 68% of towns in the South and Nabatieh governorates achieved uncontested municipal victories, marking the highest rate in Lebanon. This, he suggested, is a strong indication that the people are deeply committed to their land and national unity.
Khreis further emphasized the significance of citizens casting their votes freely, which he described as the highest form of democracy. He noted that despite attempts by the Israeli enemy to cause disruptions, the residents remain steadfast. They are responding to Speaker Nabih Berri's call to vote en masse as a public referendum supporting coexistence and state sovereignty.
In his concluding remarks, Khreis reiterated the importance of a capable state and the need to maintain pressure on Israel to implement UN Resolution 1701. He asserted that the popular turnout serves as a message to the world, demonstrating the people of the South's unwavering commitment to the path of Imam Moussa al-Sadr.
