Interior Minister’s Visit to Tyre Highlights Peaceful Elections and Ongoing Challenges

Tyre: Interior and Municipalities Minister, Ahmad Hajjar, on Saturday visited the Union of Tyre District Municipalities, accompanied by South Governor Mansour Daou. He was received by Tyre's District Commissioner Mohammad Jaffal and Union Disaster Management Director Mortada Mehna.

According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Minister Hajjar highlighted the unique challenges faced by the South, noting the area's ongoing issues with land occupation and Israeli aggression. He emphasized Lebanon's continuous diplomatic efforts to enforce the ceasefire agreement and ensure the safe conduct of the electoral process, expressing hope for lasting peace in the region.

The minister praised the calm atmosphere during the elections, remarking on the peaceful nature of the past two days and expressing a desire for this calm to extend beyond the vote counting to become a permanent state in both the South and across Lebanon.

Hajjar also applauded the smooth election process, noting that voters were able to freely express their will. He expressed hope that the newly elected municipal and mukhtar officials would effectively serve their communities.

On the topic of reconstruction, Hajjar affirmed the strong will among southerners and the Lebanese government to secure necessary funding. He expressed optimism that these efforts would soon yield positive results.
