Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with French Ambassador to Lebanon, Herv© Magro, at the second presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh, accompanied by Speaker Berri's Advisor, Dr. Mahmoud Berri. The meeting focused on political and field developments and the bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri later welcomed a delegation from the Egyptian-Lebanese Businessmen Association, led by Board Chairman Engineer Fathallah Fawzi Mohammed. The delegation included the Association's Vice President Fouad Hodroj, members of the Board of Directors, and several Egyptian and Lebanese businessmen. During the meeting, Speaker Berri emphasized Lebanon's openness to investment efforts aimed at contributing to the country's revival and reconstruction, highlighting the strong ties between Lebanon and Egypt.
Speaker Berri assured the delegation of Lebanon's commitment to implementing legislations and laws that promote investment activities between the two nations. He noted that the Parliament and its committees are actively working to expedite financial reform and banking restructuring laws. Berri also emphasized the importance of the financial gap law to ensure that Lebanese and Arab depositors regain their rights.
Additionally, the delegation briefed Speaker Berri on the Association's work program and its future plans. Separately, Speaker Berri met with United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir O. Pedersen, and UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, in Ain al-Tineh. The discussions reportedly included developments in Lebanon and the broader region, as well as political and field updates.
