Baghdad: President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, affirmed that "the Lebanese will never forget the support of Iraq and Iraqis in various circumstances, especially during the recent war that Lebanon experienced." He pointed to the existence of many joint projects between the two countries that benefit both peoples, highlighting the many challenges they face, especially the issue of terrorism, which receives great attention from both sides.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, at the regional level, Aoun considered what is happening in Gaza as "unacceptable," adding that the international community must act immediately to address the inhumane conditions prevailing in Gaza, a responsibility that falls on its shoulders.
For his part, Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid commended the recent improvement in the Lebanese situation, noting that this sentiment is shared by all Iraqis. He affirmed his readiness to cooperate in all fields, wishing Lebanon success under President Aoun's leadership and in light of the positive developments the country is witnessing, reiterating Iraq's support for Lebanon.
The positions of Presidents Aoun and Rashid came during the Lebanese-Iraqi summit held at the Iraqi Presidential Palace (Baghdad Palace) in the Iraqi capital on Sunday.
