Aoun Calls for Decisive Actions Amid Regional Challenges, Stresses Lebanese Unity and Reform

Baabda: President of the Republic, Joseph Aoun, on Monday stressed the significance of Lebanon's current regional challenges during a Cabinet session at the Presidential Palace. He underscored the need to preserve the nation's stability, especially as the promising summer season approaches. According to National News Agency - Lebanon, President Aoun expressed regret over the intermittent closures of Rafic Hariri International Airport due to security issues, and lauded the efforts of Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, for addressing aviation disruptions. He highlighted the importance of keeping Lebanon insulated from external conflicts and expressed optimism that regional tensions would not hinder the country's opportunities. President Aoun briefed the Cabinet on his recent trips to Jordan and the Vatican, discussing potential cooperation in energy, transport, healthcare, and transit with Jordan. He also extended an official invitation to Pope Leo XIV to visit Lebanon. The President pra ised the Cabinet for its achievements despite limited resources and urged for accelerated work, institutional reform, and positive collaboration with international partners, notably the World Bank. He emphasized the urgency of swift legislative actions and called for ministerial unity, warning against internal obstructionism and advocating for decisions to be made through consensus or majority to address the exceptional demands of the current situation.
