Beirut: Minister of Public Works and Transport, Fayez Rasamny, on Wednesday visited Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, accompanied by Member of Parliament, Faysal Al-Sayegh.
According to National news agency - Lebanon, Minister Rasamny expressed that the visit was significant, albeit slightly delayed due to his administrative commitments. He emphasized the importance of personally introducing himself as this marked his first official visit to the Grand Mufti's revered institution.
Rasamny highlighted that the meeting served as an opportunity to inform the Mufti about the ministry's ongoing administrative priorities and recent developments. He mentioned that they discussed a wide range of issues, addressing both challenges and opportunities, and sought the Grand Mufti's insight on several key matters. Rasamny underscored the importance of this visit as the beginning of ongoing engagements.
When discussing Lebanon's future prospects, Rasamny conveyed optimism, stating that the country is moving towards a better future with emerging opportunities that need to be seized. He mentioned that several projects are currently underway, with more expected to come to fruition soon, and expressed hope for a promising upcoming summer season.
On the topic of infrastructure projects, Rasamny confirmed that various projects are currently being implemented, with plans for future initiatives spanning annual and multi-year strategies. He emphasized that these plans are designed to extend beyond the current administration through well-planned, long-term frameworks.
Regarding financial backing for these initiatives, Rasamny indicated that they are operating within the approved budget for the year. Additionally, he noted that support has been secured from the State of Qatar for public transportation and airport avionics systems. He also mentioned that other countries are in the process of preparing additional assistance packages for Lebanon.
