Beirut: Hezbollah Secretary-General's Deputy, Sheikh Naim Qassem, articulated the organization's stance during a speech on the occasion of Ashura, emphasizing Hezbollah's unwavering commitment to resistance. "We carry the responsibility for the wounded, the prisoners, and the families. You are the torchbearers of liberation, proving to the world that you stand with Hussein and Zainab," Qassem stated, underscoring the spiritual and historical roots of their struggle. He emphasized that this resistance is aligned with the ideals of Imam Musa al-Sadr and Sayyed Hassan, and it is imperative to sustain this resistance and uphold its commitments.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Qassem highlighted the importance of maintaining resistance, even under challenging conditions. He referenced the continuous struggle in Palestine as a testament to the enduring spirit of resistance. Qassem firmly rejected any form of legitimization of occupation in Lebanon or the region, stating that normalization equates to surrender and humiliation. He warned that those who choose to normalize relations will face adverse consequences from both Israel and the U.S., reiterating that the people's choice aligns with the path of Hussein.
Qassem further addressed the threats faced by Hezbollah, asserting that intimidation will not lead to submission. He condemned the aggression, killings, and crimes committed by Israel and the U.S., calling for an end to these acts. He identified Israel as the core problem, positioning the resistance as part of the solution to the ongoing crisis.
He elaborated on the two phases Hezbollah faces: reaching an agreement and implementing Resolution 1701. Qassem expressed readiness to finalize the agreement and implement the resolution, stressing the organization's flexibility in seeking understanding. He dismissed the U.S.-Israeli equation of death or surrender, affirming Hezbollah's commitment to their rights and readiness for martyrdom or victory if necessary. He emphasized the organization's resolve, declaring Hezbollah's preparedness for both peace and confrontation, while maintaining their rights and dignity.
Concluding his speech, Qassem stated Hezbollah's refusal to live in Lebanon under conditions akin to a large prison, reinforcing their determination to uphold their principles and autonomy.
