Beirut: Moroccan Ambassador to Lebanon, Mohamed Ikrin, expressed that "Lebanon is the dream of every Arab who seeks to live in coexistence and modernity, because it is a message."
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Ambassador Ikrin noted that the strained relations between Lebanon and Morocco over the past five years are improving. He mentioned a favorable shift in Lebanon and emphasized that Morocco is taking necessary precautions to safeguard its sovereign decisions.
The ambassador's remarks were made during an interview with "Radio Lebanon," coinciding with the "Moroccan Throne Day," attended by Information Ministry Director-General, Dr. Hassan Falha. Ambassador Ikrin clarified that the visa process for Lebanese citizens is not a political issue but a matter of security. Despite procedural concerns, he assured that the Moroccan government facilitates visa applications by reviewing each personal file individually. Lebanese citizens holding visas for 120 countries, including the Schengen zone, can obtain Moroccan visas online within 72 hours.
Addressing Moroccan tourism in Lebanon, Ambassador Ikrin shared that consultations with multiple travel agencies and Royal Air Maroc revealed that Lebanon offers unique tourism experiences, especially family and religious entertainment tourism, enriched by the presence of the Arabic language.
On diplomatic relations, he emphasized that Moroccan diplomacy is rooted in cooperation, solidarity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations, particularly sister countries. However, he noted that non-interference does not preclude protection and diligent engagement. He highlighted Morocco's support for Lebanon, such as assistance after the Beirut port explosion, provided without publicity, to the Lebanese Army and through personal efforts from King Mohammed VI.
In concluding remarks, Ambassador Ikrin expressed his condolences to the Lebanese people and the family of the late artist Ziad Rahbani, honoring him as "one of the pillars of Arab creativity."
