Beirut: Energy Minister Joe Saddi's media office announced today that the first oil tanker has arrived in Lebanese waters, marking the beginning of Kuwait's initiative to supply Lebanon with 132,000 metric tons of gas oil. This agreement includes a generous donation of 66,000 tons, effectively halving the cost of the oil supply compared to standard market prices.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, the statement from Minister Joe Saddi's office highlighted the decision to fund the cost of the Kuwaiti oil through Electricit© du Liban's collections, thereby avoiding additional financial strain on the country. This strategic move aligns with Minister Saddi's commitment to not increasing Lebanon's debt burden during challenging economic times.
The statement further expressed gratitude to Kuwait for its ongoing support, acknowledging the nation's consistent solidarity with Lebanon. It emphasized that Kuwait's assistance in enhancing electricity production is a continuation of its historical support for Lebanon during critical periods.
